Arkady Fomin
Arkady Fomin (1946-2014) was born in Riga, Latvia and received a good deal of his music education at the Latvian State Conservatory. A member of the Clavier Trio and a dedicated musician and teacher, Mr. Fomin collaborated with such violinists as Pinchas Zukerman and Shlomo Mintz. During his time as a musician, Mr. Fomin served as both the principle violinist in the Latvian State Philharmonic as well as a well-respected member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Fomin was the founder of the New Conservatory of Dallas, as well as the artistic director of the Conservatory Music in the Mountains program. Above all, he was respected and cherished by his family, friends, and students, and his teaching methodology continues to inspire current and future musicians every day.
Jan Mark Sloman
Jan Mark Sloman (1949-2022) originated from West Virginia and studied both at Princeton University as well as Curtis Institute of Music. Along with holding international orchestra positions in countries such as Italy and Switzerland, Mr. Sloman served as the Principle Associate Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for many years. In addition to having a large private studio based in Dallas, Mr. Sloman served as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University, as well as a faculty member at Cleveland Institute of Music. Mr. Sloman also dedicated his time to the The Institute For Strings, a music intensive that he founded for elite string players to truly focus on improving their art in a motivated yet positive environment. In addition, Mr. Sloman was a well-loved and hard-working member of the faculty at summer programs such as Heifetz Institute and Meadowmount School of Music.
Herbert Greenberg
Herbert Greenberg is an internationally acclaimed performer from Philadelphia, former longtime concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and is currently on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute. After studying with Jascha Brodsky and Ivan Galamian, Mr. Greenberg went on to study with Joseph Gingold at the University of Indiana. Mr. Greenberg has also been a member of the Minnesota orchestra, as well as associate concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Mr. Greenberg has since served on the juries of such competitions as the Szymanowski and Wieniawski Competitions, as well as performed on tour, internationally. Mr. Greenberg has collaborated with such musicians as Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma, Jaime Laredo, and Pinchas Zukerman. Today, Mr. Greenberg continues his career not only as a musician and a teacher but also a guardian and a mentor of the highest degree.
